Montgomery County students and their families are getting a break on their lunch dues thanks to the extension of a Federal meal program.
Administration at Caddo Hills School District and Mount Ida School District have announced their students will be able to eat free in their respective cafeterias thanks to the Seamless Summer Option Program.
The Seamless Summer Option is a food program available through the free and reduced lunch program funded by the USDA. Once a school is approved by their state agency schools are able to serve meals to students up to the age of 18 free of charge. Lunch fees are paid to the school based on a free lunch price set by the program.
The extension of the program allows the schools to provide free meals for students through the end of 2020.
Both school districts would like to remind families that it is still vital that you fill out and turn in free and reduced lunch forms. These forms are essential in districts gaining much needed state and federal funding.
