Thornton Funeral Home has been recognized as the Montgomery County “Hometown Hero” for 2021 by Modern Woodmen of America Chapter 17374. The award was presented to staff and owners last Thursday, September 30, by Modern Woodmen representative Dicey Miller.
The annual award gives Modern Woodmen members an opportunity to honor an individual, or organization for their outstanding service to the local community. Miller stated that Thornton Funeral Home and their staff have served Montgomery County for years. However, the COVID pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges to the funeral home industry. Thornton Funeral Home and their staff worked tirelessly to provide a safe environment for grieving families and their staff while continuing to offer the same level of great service.
Miller presented to award to Funeral Manager Jeff Blansett, owners Scott and Brenda Jones, as well as other funeral home staff.
Modern Woodmen Chapter President Linda Wilkerson and Chapter Vice-President Jean Lybrand were on hand to assist in the presentation.
