Waldron – State Representative Marcus Richmond has officially announced his re-election bid for 2020. Richmond is currently serving in his third term in the Arkansas House. He represents District 21 which includes portions of Scott, Polk, Perry, Garland, Montgomery, Sebastian, and Yell counties.
Serving as Majority Leader in the State House, Representative Richmond sits on the Joint Budget, Revenue & Taxation, City, County & Local Affairs, and Joint Performance Review Committees. He is also a member of the Arkansas Legislative Council, which oversees legislative matters between legislative sessions.
As House Majority Leader, Richmond was a key player in passing the much needed highway funding for Arkansas, now Act 416. “I am proud of Republicans and my fellow colleagues that came together in passing this legislation. Adequate highway funding is essential to ensuring the quality of travel and infrastructure in the Natural State.”
As a father, grandfather, and husband for over 40 years, Richmond has always supported traditional family values. These shared values extend into his community activism as a former high school coach and educator, and as a successful local small business owner. Richmond retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Lt. Colonel.
Representative Richmond has a proven track record of success and conservatism. In addtion to voting to lower income taxes for all Arkansans, he has a 100% pro-life and pro-gun voting record. He stood alongside Governor Hutchinson in transforming state government by reducing the number of state agencies. He has always supported our teachers, firefighters, veterans, and farmers. And as Arkansas S.T.E.M. education continues to climb, Marcus recognizes the importance of workforce and skills training in schools.
“Arkansans know that actions speak louder than words. They deserve a strong and proven effective leader who cuts through the nonsense and labyrinth of bureaucracy and big government. I want to thank everyone who supports me and allows me to represent them, and I ask for their continued support.”
